Hulton finally drops "Background"

A brief look into Hulton's Latest drop and what it means for the UK musician

George Nover

Background is something different. It stands apart from Hulton's current catalogue and brings us something fresh.

The track brings a powerful powerfull (repeated twice because that is really what it is) chorus and verse with the tracks title being chanted. It feels like Hulton has been heavily influenced by Loyle Carner on this song. We know he has written music with the star before so it is not surprising we are noticing a similar flow.

Hulton paired up with award winning produce J Onthebeat to put this track together. It is engaging from start to finish with all empty (or background) spaces being filled with the chatter of various people, from what we guess is meant to emulate the chatter at a party or gathering. The track really feels like a story, emphasising the importance of getting out of the muffled background and "standing out".

Hulton's instagram post promoting the drop we have listed below as well as the track itself on Spotify.

"Background" has also been a radio favourite from what we have heard, being supported by not just local stations lik Represent radio, but also the national players like BBC 1Xtra introducing and Kiss Fresh.

This track has been one of our top picks this week and joins tracks like "Puppies", from Pozer, on our weekly Rap review.
